Women's blouse fabrics — CO/EL and cotton with elastane

CO/EL blouse fabric (97% Co / 3% El) is a fabric dedicated to women’s apparel — 3% elastane provides 10–30% stretch across the weft while maintaining the natural, breathable character of cotton. Available in two weights: 100 g/m² for lightweight blouses and 118 g/m² for formal and office blouses.

What material are formal and fitted blouses made from? Cotton with elastane (CO/EL) combines two requirements at once: 97% cotton ensures hygroscopicity, softness, and natural hand feel, while 3% elastane provides durable fit to the silhouette and freedom of movement. Unlike viscose or chiffon, CO/EL fabric retains its shape after washing, does not require horizontal drying, and does not lose color after multiple seasons of use.

CO/EL blouses can be finished with Easy Care (facilitates daily ironing) or Liquid Ammonia (LA) — a process that enables cotton to achieve a wrinkle resistance rating of DP 2.5–3.5, comparable to synthetic fibers, while maintaining ecological natural properties. This is a premium segment for office apparel and formal seasonal collections.

Width: 135–140 cm (CO/EL dedicated to blouses), 150 cm (shirting fabrics also available for blouses).

Blouse fabric weaves — sateen, poplin, twill

Sateen (sateen, satin weave)

delicate luster on the right side of the fabric, smooth and soft surface. Most frequently chosen for elegant women’s blouses and formal shirts. Available in 100% Co and CO/EL.

Poplin (plain weave 1/1)

smooth, slightly ribbed structure. Base for CO/EL blouse fabrics. Performs well in formal blouses, office wear, and elegant shirts. Available in 100% Co, CVC, and CO/EL.

Twill (twill weave 2/1 or 3/1)

Delicate luster effect on the right side of the shirting fabric. Available in 100% Co, Co/Pes blends, and CO/EL. Popular in both premium men’s shirts and women’s blouses.

Dobby and herringbone

Solid, abrasion-resistant shirting fabric construction. Shirting fabrics in oxford weave are most frequently chosen in institutional tenders and corporate apparel.

Flannel

fabric brushed on one side (one-side brushing) or both sides (two-sides brushing). Soft, skin-friendly, ideal for oversized blouses and autumn/winter seasonal shirts.

Blouse jersey

ammonia-finished knit fabric, several dozen designs and colors available from stock. Exceptional wearing comfort for knit blouses and loose designs.

Blouse fabric finishes

The finish defines the hand feel, luster, and care requirements of the finished blouse. Sapor Textile offers 4 key finishes for the blouse segment.
Peach Effect
mechanical brushing of the fabric surface, “peach skin” effect. The fabric becomes exceptionally soft to the touch, velvety, with a matte surface. One of the most popular finishes in premium women’s blouses and office apparel.
Silky Touch
silk imitation, delicate and luxurious hand feel. Cotton fabric with Silky Touch finish behaves like silk to the touch while offering significantly higher durability and ease of care typical of cotton. Chosen by designers of premium collections and apparel intended for special occasions.
Easy Care (EC) / Easy to Iron (ETI)
standard finishes for office and formal blouses with predominantly cotton content. EC facilitates daily care of the finished blouse, ETI reduces ironing time. Standard for corporate and uniform apparel.
Liquid Ammonia (LA, LA+Precure, LA+Moisture)
advanced chemical process performed in selected factories worldwide. CO/EL cotton after ammonia treatment achieves DP 2.5–3.5 and does not require intensive ironing after washing — while maintaining the ecological, natural character of the fiber.

Applications — for which blouses and designs

What are the best materials for blouses? It depends on the application — Sapor Textile covers 4 main segments of blouse apparel, each with optimal composition and finish.
Formal and office blouse
CO/EL 97/3 poplin or sateen, weight 118 g/m², Easy Care or Liquid Ammonia finish. 10–30% stretch across the weft, all-day wearing comfort in fitted cut, 95% of colors available in 7 days — ideal for office apparel with regular collection rotation.
Women’s slim-fit blouse
What material to use for a slim-fit blouse? CO/EL 100 g/m² in sateen or poplin weave: lightweight, elastic (10–30% across the weft), easy to care for. Alternatively Natural Stretch — up to 10% stretch in 100% cotton without elastane, for customers preferring 100% Co composition.
Elegant blouse and fashion collections
CVC fabrics with certified tests from the Moratex Institute, TC for workwear. DP 2.5–3.5 parameters confirming wrinkle resistance. Two-ply for tender specification requirements.
Casual and oversized blouse
cotton twill, dobby, herringbone in 100% Co or double-sided brushed flannel. Soft hand feel and decorative texture for loose, relaxed styling — autumn/winter collections.

Premium technologies — for demanding designers

Natural Stretch

up to 10% stretch in 100% cotton without elastane (special yarn spinning). The blouse conforms to the body without restricting movement, while maintaining 100% Co composition.
Two-ply yarns (80/2)
double-twisted cotton yarns. Blouse fabric with two-ply is refined in hand feel, resilient, and returns to shape after creasing without intensive ironing.
Mercerization
all cotton fibers mercerized before dyeing. Effect: deeper color, durable luster, and higher mechanical strength than non-mercerized cotton.
4-way stretch
stretch across weft and warp, produced to individual order from the factory. For blouses with very fitted cut with full freedom of movement in every direction.
